Note to Self

When you knit, tink, and re-knit a row multiple times, and the pattern just is not making sense…sometimes, it can be the pattern and not you.

Vintage Sock pattern caused me a headache for WEEKS.  I put it away and ignored it for some time.  Finally, looked at it tonight.

On page 29, the written directions for the Embossed Grape Panel row 29 reads:

k1(3), p2, (k5, p5) 4 times, K5, p2, k to eor.

However, the chart for row 29, when written out, appears to be

k1(3), p2, (k5, p2, k5, p2) 4 times, K5, p2, k to eor.

I sent a message to the designer, and hopefully it’s been corrected in future printings.  I can’t be the only one to catch this.

34 leaves done! Here’s one of them, inlaid in the toe.

How else do we pay for all that yarn and fabric?

A recent email from a new local combo knitting & sewing store left me disheartened.

Knitting Circle?  Thursday MORNINGS.

Cool Sewing Class?  Wednesday, EARLY AFTERNOON.

Sigh.

I’ve found this same problem in parent classes.

Crafty people have full-time jobs!  We have to, in order to afford that $40 skein of yarn, or that $100 sewing class.

Someday, when I hit the lottery and I can open a yarn/craft store, I’ll try and have evening classes…

Leaf 23 of 32. I almost have this pattern completely memorized.

Today felt like the right day to wear my Lornas Laces rainbow socks.

Current Project: The Vintage Sock.  Has been in my stash/UFO pile for a couple of years.  Part of my”finish before making something for MC2 project.

I get annoyed at “Free Patterns,” that are just…basic patterns.  Like today’s from Berroco. I’m not expecting a free lace shawl pattern, but still, a headkerchief?  Really?

Leaf # 13. Nineteen more to go.
